Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to Millennial Moms Unfiltered. Today we're going to be talking about self care as you age. As you age I didn't want to say that, but as you age.

Speaker 2:

I know it's not very like teenage of us, so without teenage I also am.

Speaker 1:

I'm 25 actually, so without further ado, let's get into it, All right. So before we get started I said we're going to get right into it. We're not actually. I have to tell you guys something. If you leave a review on Apple podcasts and leave your Instagram handle or your Facebook name how we can find you on Facebook, you will be chosen to win weekly a Tumblr that you won't be able to buy in any of our merch stores or anything. These are limited edition, just like the sweatshirts Exclusive.

Speaker 1:

So yes unique with little quotes on them from funny things that we said in past episodes from the beginning. So if you want to win one of those who doesn't love Tumblers, I know I do leave a review, a five star review. I don't want a bad review, so we threw that out there. Sorry, I'm all out of breath because we just had like it was going real good and then all of a sudden it just wasn't and we just have this is all us.

Speaker 2:

We don't have a production team.

Speaker 1:

Like, we're not very fancy, we're all just learning. Nobody has background in audio, and that's none of us, neither of us.

Speaker 2:

So I think we fixed all the problems. We have a new camera today too, so yes. So hopefully.

Speaker 1:

After last week's release I was like we got to fix this.

Speaker 2:

We've had the most video issues.

Speaker 1:

I think we're out of the woods. I think we're really coming together, though what is this episode? This will be episode nine, and I think we're we're getting there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, under 10 episodes got it together. That's. That's pretty. We're doing it. We're doing something right, we're getting there. Um, that's a lot of rambling. Self care per usual, yeah, self care. So it's funny that we didn't really have a plan for what we're going to talk about right now. Um, but on the way over, I was thinking about, um, a lip mask that I just got that I love. Like lip masks are my life. Like I used to not even wear chapstick, like I was so Anti-mung and hydrated, I guess.

Speaker 2:

I just didn't.

Speaker 1:

It just wasn't a necessity. And now, if I don't do lip masks like at least three times a week, I got cracks.

Speaker 2:

I'm just dry, it doesn't. It's to talk to me about lit masks, to your favorite, cause I actually don't use lit masks. I am a big. I am a big chapstick girl though.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's like the first one I tried was actually really good, I thought, and it was like a honey based one and I was like, wow, I'll never find anything that tops this. I'm going to get it forever. And then I saw a desby. Obviously, I get everything from desby. Um, talk about this lawless, like lip pumper, lip mask, like combo.

Speaker 2:

And.

Speaker 1:

I was like, okay, let's go check it out. And the lip mask is so like soft and not sticky, like yeah, it almost feels like you put like a layer over your lips, like duh, it's a mask, that's what you want to feel. But it stays on and then, after, like, all the little like lines that are there are kind of like smoothed out and like, yeah, it's really nice. And then the um, that's the desby. Yeah, it's lawless, it's the name of the company, it's all clean, cruelty free, like there's nothing like it bad in it.

Speaker 1:

Um, so yeah that. And then they have like a forget the filler, like lip lip pumper, but it doesn't do like tingly or anything like that. It's just like really like shiny and nice and it feels good on the lips and it's not super like sticky or like. I hate that feeling. I don't like putting like I don't do lipstick or shit anymore because I just don't like the feeling. But this doesn't bother me. So are all of them? Are they all?

Speaker 2:

different in like how long you keep them on, or how long you keep them on, or like the, the way you do them, or just the mask you put on at night, like it's like before bed whatever, like your skincare, it doesn't really matter.

Speaker 1:

I use it all the time, though, Like I don't, you don't have to just use it at night. Um, and then the lip plumper lip gloss. I forget what it's actually called, but it's a lip something. Um, I like when I get ready in the morning and do my makeup, I just like put that on and just go out on my day.

Speaker 2:

I can I could put that into my routine.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's super easy to have lips I use aqua for on my lips or our births piece.

Speaker 2:

Those are like my two.

Speaker 1:

That's what I used to do when, um sorry, I thought that Gio's like asking you like how's it going? I don't know. Let me get through it. I can let you know I'm not talking shit about you, gio, I know when you listen to this you're going to be like I'm just joking, at least your husband listens Talking shit about power and listen.

Speaker 1:

So I just need to make sure like nothing was on fire. Um, yeah, yeah, and the past like two, three years, I really like started getting into skincare and before that I had a very basic like skincare routine like face wash occasional moisturizer but I would wear a full face and makeup and it's like girlfriend, why, how are you?

Speaker 1:

How, how and why? Um, and now I tried to like wear as little makeup as possible because I got shit to do. Um, same, clearly. So skincare is definitely a necessity, um, and I feel like once I turned 30, I was like yeah, yeah, I got in much in a much more routine to skincare program when I was pregnant with Maeve.

Speaker 2:

That's when I started taking care of my skin before that was just face wash and moisturizer, if I remembered.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I never like took the time to figure out what the products do Like. Now I have me either like face washes, like different face washes I have say so like acid for like cleaning it all out, and then I have like an everyday one, and then, when my face is a little bit dry, that's a little bit more moisturizing, I have um different toners for different things and I figured out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, serums, like I have, like the whole thing, and I switched them out depending on like what season it is Right and like I can tell, like what my skin needs, and I was that used to intimidate me, I used to scare the crap out of you.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, I didn't know what to do. And also, I'm sure for a lot of people it's also intimidating having to invest the kind of money into all the different products too, because like people can be like well, I want a good skincare routine, but I don't have all this money too. So trying to find the right balance for a lot of moms, for that too there's definitely some things that I will splurge on, like.

Speaker 1:

my favorite um SPF is Tula and it's like a little bit pricey but it actually lasts a really long time. Like Tula, I can say is pricey, but for what you get, for the price, it does last. So if you're like, if you want to invest in quality skincare, yeah, the initial cost is is gonna be something yeah, but then it will last and you won't have to.

Speaker 2:

You want to replace All the bottles at the same time, right, never.

Speaker 1:

So Tula is definitely worth it and it's a cleaner brand, so yeah, so, all right, let's talk about that.

Speaker 2:

What's more important to you? Like, do you care about? Like non-toxic products and all that? Because, like, that's number one on my list is like the non-toxic well stuff because I stopped using things that I've found out were toxic. I.

Speaker 1:

Feel like a lot of it is marketing, like there are certain things like you can't get like. Retinol is retinol and retinol is like One of the most important things for aging. You're not gonna get like an alternative, clean, just like retinol. That's actually not no. So like that's difficult, but I do think that there are certain brands that do Things unethically and they're right sourced products and shit like that and that matters to me.

Speaker 2:

Like I won't use anything Nivea because they're like anti-gay and they're also kind of just like I don't use Neutrogena anymore Because they have a lot of toxic chemicals and I'm not I didn't know yeah like the extra additive stuff.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I, I don't get too wrapped up in things like that, and the brands that I I do use Kind of just happen to be like cleaner brands, but there are certain products that you just there's no ways around it Like that's just how you make it.

Speaker 2:

So, depending on that, I think you're more versed in skincare than I am, because I do use more stuff but not as much, and I also like super into natural stuff. I use mad hippie, mad be brand and that I actually really do like it and I've noticed a difference. But like I don't use retinol, I just started taking collagen.

Speaker 1:

Oh my god, collagen supplement. I like a big thing, but you have to get like collagen that Not all collagen is created equally.

Speaker 2:

So you need research it.

Speaker 1:

You need it to be bio, available, right Like your body needs to be able to break it down and use it because you could be taking collagen. But the way that it's formulated, if your body's not breaking it down, the way that it's going to be able to use what's in the collagen to help you out with your skin and nails and all that, it doesn't matter. You're just throwing your money out the window. Yeah, so what I've been using lately? I love this and it tastes so fucking good. It's Cassie Mansfield. If you follow me, you probably follow Cassie Mansfield. She has a like it's greens collagen. What else is in it? I don't know.

Speaker 1:

All kinds of shit, but it's so good and my hair grows so much faster now and my skin is so like I need like plump, like even without skincare, like I can wash my face and like not put anything on immediately and I still feel like that's nice, do we like? I definitely notice a difference and it helps with gut health it has greens and all that stuff.

Speaker 1:

So my like bloating and just like gross belly stuff. Um, I Way down. So that's like right now that's my favorite thing and there's all kinds of like flavors and they're all really good. Like I wake up in the morning and I'm like, yes, is it like a drink, like add it to your water. It's a powder you add to the morning and I honestly like it more excited for that in the morning than I am. That's good, that's a good alternative. So, yeah, that's a supplement that I've been doing, that I love.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so back. We'll go back to face care first. So Mine is very simple. I do have. I have a face cleanser. I have a brush, so I use that when I wash my face morning and night. I have a moisturizer. I have three different serums of vitamin a, vitamin C, so use vitamin C during the day, vitamin a at night, and then I have another one that I like, alter, alternate with, and I just have moisturizer at night and eye cream. Yeah and I do use castor oil for my eyebrows and my eyes.

Speaker 1:

Do you notice a difference? Because I always like start the castor oil and then I like I do notice my eyebrows are mad thin.

Speaker 2:

So I like cat oh I'm, I don't really like, so it's hard to sell. But I've noticed a difference in my lashes and I do like it as like I use around my eyes to for like wrinkles and I feel like I do like it. I like castor oil packs a lot. I actually use them for my back, my discs, stuff, but this will be a fun fact. If you have a copper eye you do you should not use castor oil packs because it can release more copper into your system than you should. So I had to stop using the packs because I'm on you D, but I do like. I feel like the packs are beneficial. I've noticed a difference.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I use those and that's also important too. When you start taking a new supplement, make sure that you're not on anything that's gonna like that's Counter indicative, like it's not gonna have an effect on anything like a lot of people don't want to.

Speaker 2:

Everyone always says consult, like when you see those things or buy those things. They always say, like consult with your doctor first, and I feel like no one ever does. But you really do need to consult with your doctor if you're on any sort of medication.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but it's just that for that, to make sure that it's not gonna, but there's a lot of times you have to look up for yourself because doctors would be like, yeah, I don't know about that brand, but it's seems fine and they don't fucking know, and guess what. You end up having some issue because your doctor just isn't well versed in whatever supplement you're taking and, honestly, even a lot of supplements can interact with each other too, and right and that like that comes.

Speaker 1:

Let's bring it on back to skincare, like I didn't know that about or I didn't know what to mix. Like I was scared to put on AHA, bha, like Paula's Choice, that is my favorite like holy grail, like toner and but I was like chasel toner.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, I'm gonna give you.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna give you so many cool ones and you're gonna be like, yes, I used to use that all the time because it's gentle enough to use every day and what that does is like clear out your pores and like minimize them and just like you know, keep your face clear. But then I wouldn't use my retinol and I used to be like, oh like, can I use them together? Is it gonna burn my skin off? Because some things do have issues like that. But you can use retinol and like mild AHA, bha together and it helps with fine lines. So then when I figured that out, I was like, yes, but there are certain things in formulations that you can't use together, because you will bring your skin off yeah, so not literally off, but like you'll have red irritation and like it's just not worth it. Yeah, so certain things you need to know that kind of stuff. Yeah, it took me a while. That's one of those things that I feel like I have to read it 16 times.

Speaker 1:

I'm like thinking wait, is this true or is this something my brain kind of just like made up and I like a go back and check for the first like three weeks I'm doing? It make sure, yeah, read that we I'm not sure if I read that it's and we were we were talking about this the other day that Brittany feels like she doesn't retain information the same way, and I'm like, no, you do, it's just because you're not using it, because I do the same thing.

Speaker 2:

I swear to God I'll, I'll email the same things, I'll Google the same things, like six times like every day until my brain is like yes, I accept that as truth so, yeah, I don't retain anything anymore unless I'm using it on a daily basis. Even then, though, when I was training for that job over the summer, I feel like I couldn't remember shit until it comes up mom life I feel like I read that six times this on the seventh time.

Speaker 2:

I'll remember alright. So skincare SPF is huge. I think that people don't realize like, oh, I tanner, oh, but like I have been telling Patrick to wear SPF, he worked outside yeah he has no skin, he is such a man like well, like you skincare, I'm like you need to put it on your face skincare routine to like I got him, I'm trying, it's yeah.

Speaker 1:

When he does it like three times can be like wow, my face is really no palates washes his face with soap and like that's it. I know they have just like one one body wash shampoo and it's like what are you doing?

Speaker 2:

body wash shampoo, conditioner, and they randomly they'll be like I'm breaking out.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I fucking wonder why swath for men?

Speaker 2:

like I did get him. He does use a nicer soap. Now he does have a separate shampoo and soap and it's nicer and it's like it's that like a buffalo trace one or whatever, and it smells really good and it doesn't have like a ton of toxins in it. He did separate, but I haven't. And I got him beard oil, but he does not use. Yeah, jill loves any face stuff, and I think he needs to at least use SPF, because he works outside. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

SPF. I used to not ever, ever, ever wear any kind of sunscreen, and now I think that is the most like. That's the easiest thing you can do. That's gonna make a huge difference such a difference like yeah, mad pale. I might have to use tanning drops to like look normal, but like my it's. My complexion is so even and like not patchy anywhere. I feel like I don't have any like divots or anything like that like.

Speaker 2:

I'm starting to get like the sunspots, but I'm also freckly so. Yeah, I don't ending together.

Speaker 1:

Eden's really freckly and I'm like I, where did that come? From like, I'm not freckly at all like yeah, any, I used to have little like sunspots yeah like all that's like reversed, and I swear it's because it's started using SPF for sure. So it's huge.

Speaker 1:

So if you don't have a skincare routine and you don't know where to start, the literal easiest thing that you can do is get yourself a good face wash, get yourself a good moisturizer, like you don't need a toner or anything like that and you can moisturize or with an SPF if you want to however, you need to pay attention how much that you're using, because, depending on the formulation again, like a good rule of thumb is if you're getting, if you use an SPF, a broad spectrum SPF to do two fingers, which is it feels like a fuck ton, but it it makes a difference. But if you get one that's also a moisturizer, it can throw that off and you might actually need to use more, which is like yo it takes a long time to absorb and I hate that.

Speaker 1:

The two of the ones, like I, use the get up and glow. I think it's called something like that the yellow bottle yeah and oh. It makes the skin look so nice, so I think I think it's very slow and maybe a little bit.

Speaker 2:

It does have a little bit of a small but I can't really good smell and I can't remember if it's to learn it's like it's my favorite thing ever.

Speaker 1:

I love it, I love it, I love it. It has like probiotics in it they're not active probiotics and there was a lawsuit about this. But because people are like it's not active probiotics, it's like duh duh. So, yeah, I'm sorry, I'm thinking so.

Speaker 2:

If you weren't, if you so if you weren't, if you wanted to just start out, you're just starting, you want to do like the least yeah, face wash moisturizer.

Speaker 1:

SPF and lip oil or some shit. Get your lips to I. It took me a while to like figure out lip stuff like I like duh, it's a part of your face, but like then after I got filler, I obviously it became I started the second episode, so welcome I.

Speaker 1:

What am I saying? Lips, oh, lip stuff. So then obviously I like spent the money on filler, so I got to keep these bad boys looking right and I used to just take my skincare down to my lips, like I used to use my lotion. Just be like, but your skin on your lips is obviously different than your face. Like it's not. It doesn't have any of, like the little hairs or like it's just it's different skin, it's it's not the same. So don't I mean not don't do that. Some things are okay to do that but like just getting a little lip balm, something just like quick, yeah, just have your own thing for your lips, because if your skin looks really nice and then your lips are kind of just like it, it's chapped and cracked and white, yeah it makes a difference.

Speaker 2:

So lip care is the thing obviously I started off yeah, we don't.

Speaker 1:

I don't use lip masks when I definitely use traps again and aqua, for if they're getting real bad, I haven't had aqua for is like one of the best, like occlusive, occlusive layers, like it, like seals it in and keeps it nice.

Speaker 2:

So that's we've just like tubs aqua for tubs of aqua for in this house because between like eczema, tattoo, aftercare and lip care it's for everywhere yeah, okay, what are some like extras? Like I use the eye, the under eye patches, like the eye masks, so my favorite masks I don't really. I'm sure I'm asking you there.

Speaker 1:

Something I just started getting into was like chemical peels and these you have to be careful with at home, like if you're not. There's some that are okay to do like beginner level, but I don't know he's a scared the crap out of me but I just started doing them and it really like holy shit. Chemical peels, yes, but okay, eye masks I was gonna say my favorite ones that I've ever used that like I sometimes I feel like it feels nice on the face, but then you take them off and you don't really see a difference. I've seen a difference like immediately after and like instant gratification is like obviously a thing, friends is what is it called? It's like dermatology or something like that. It's like a pink bottle.

Speaker 1:

I'll like put a picture up about of it, but this is another thing that's a little bit pricey. We should link all of our products that we use yeah, I'll do that in the show notes it it just like it smooths everything out, like, and I have really obviously you can see like the shadow I have from like the dips, like it makes it look just nice, like it brightens it up and like fills in any like little lines, like, and obviously those kind of things are really like short term Because it's plumping you up because of the hydration, but it actually does get in the skin and like plump you up. Sometimes you use things and it's just like like what did that do? Yeah, those always piss me off.

Speaker 2:

So I fell victim.

Speaker 1:

Well, I don't say victim because they do kind of work, but to the frownies, because I have these like yeah, so you bought the frownies because the plastic ones not the plastic one, like medical grade silicone ones and they work, but like it's, I don't have 15 extra minutes in my before getting ready routine to do that.

Speaker 2:

So the frownies you do, you put them on before bed. You spray like a rose water spray on. You put them on before bed and you have to like it's like a puzzle if you like get them on your forehead and at least, like I don't know, I wear like six or seven different pieces. If you like, piece them together, wet them enough. They stick and it's like almost like craft paper and they smell kind of funky. I don't. I don't love the way they smell and it basically casts your forehead so you can't move your forehead muscles. So essentially, the point is to outside Botox.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's basically to like you are training your muscles to not move while you sleep and that should help them not move, like during the day. Eventually, like basically your forehead muscles will not move so much anymore, so you'll reduce that, those lines. But I've only done it like three times and all three times my forehead did look smoother, but it was a process and I don't like the way it feels while I'm sleeping.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's like your forehead is hardened and I didn't love it, done like lashes and hair extensions and all of that like I, and I ripped them out immediately. I really fucked this up, but it's pissing me off that I can't sit back and if I'm not comfy, I'm like I'm out, I'm out.

Speaker 2:

I don't want to do it and I take them off. Oh yeah, if you have any sensory anything. I would not recommend the frownies because it was the feeling of them drove me crazy. I took them all three times. I did it. I took them off in the middle of the night. I was like, nope, I'm not gonna make it. This is where we are now.

Speaker 1:

Sorry.

Speaker 2:

I'm just gonna hold it.

Speaker 1:

Um, yeah, that would be me. Um, just Botox me, you know, and I might do. I haven't gotten Botox yet, but I'm probably going to. But the thing with that is like you have to keep it up. It's not like filler you can go for one time and it's like cool, I'm fine for like a year and a half now Like you have to go to those appointments otherwise it's like what's the fucking point? So that's a thing like do I feel like spending that money on that?

Speaker 2:

I'm not anti Botox at all. I think if I had the money I probably would do my forehead, but I, I'm just, I don't want to be.

Speaker 1:

I have the like wrong mindset that like I'm gonna be frozen faced but it takes a lot of Botox, it takes a lot of appointments to get there, so like if I just got my like 11s and like my little things you know.

Speaker 2:

really, you're pretty good on your forehead, like you don't know when you're super expressive, you can see them, but when you're just super expressive, no, but they're not deep.

Speaker 1:

I might not be. They're not like you can't see them. I feel like yours. Look better. Yeah, maybe because I don't have any makeup on today at all.

Speaker 2:

The frownies, maybe they worked.

Speaker 1:

But I think I'm so.

Speaker 2:

No moisturizer in general, like what? I'm yeah or when I'm hydrating like what I'm.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's what makes the difference too, If you really are beginner skincare.

Speaker 2:

Start with drinking water. Like that's skincare 101 hydrate by drinking water.

Speaker 1:

I'm really I'm pissed at myself for this. I Should have took care of it before we started recording. If you're not watching on YouTube, I'm fucking with my microphone and you can probably hear it because I won't be able to edit that out, but like we have to fix that one before the next episode. Hydration super important for so many reasons.

Speaker 2:

I think people overlook that a lot. The first facial I ever got she was like so there's not much I can do about your, your dehydration, dryness of your skin. As far as the Dehydration goes, because like you can tell you're like there was no elasticity she's like you're too young for this. So that's what I realized I had to drink more than coffee.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I drink like at least like a hundred ounces of water a day and I used to drink a gallon a day when I was body building, like Religiously. But you also have to pay attention to how much water you're drinking without electrolytes, because you can really fuck yourself up with that and I just I don't think I need that much water now that I know better. So, at least a hundred ounces Every single day and it does make a huge difference. People start drinking water and they freak out because their body starts like clearing out Stuff and you like break out and yeah, I really can have issues.

Speaker 1:

It's gonna be like the first month that you start having a water routine. Fight through it, just get through it, because it's it makes such a difference in so many ways, even energy levels. Sometimes you feel just like the and you're dehydrated and you don't even know it.

Speaker 2:

Yes, drink your water, folks. What else? Aging, anti-aging routine? So skin hair? We don't have hair.

Speaker 1:

Oh I have this, another warm hole we can go down. So hair I've always like kind of like fucked with my hair and like colored it and stuff like that. But I never tried to really do anything other than the occasional like store bought mask. And again when I this is probably relatively new that I started like really paying attention to it, probably like the past year or two, even after the skincare, like doing like scalp care and stuff and like paying attention to like different shampoos and like what it needs and like I love bond builders Like how were we living before bond building? Shampoo and masks like I love it. I'm using the shampoo right now to help grow my hair because after I took my extensions out I felt like my hair was super thin and I like a meanty B about that and then cut all my hair off.

Speaker 1:

So now we're back to short, um. So I wanted to grow my hair and I think the shampoo works. It has like caffeine collagen, um, what else, or something else that like. Honestly, I have no fucking idea when I'll check out the show notes. Yeah, we don't know the names of any of our products. But I bought the small bottle because, like I again, it was pricier and I didn't want to buy the huge tub for all that money if it wasn't going to work.

Speaker 1:

But I think the next time I'll I'll buy the big one, um, and use that, uh, before my wedding. This is where the hair growing shit started because, like duh right, um, I started doing rosemary oil, like things, um, like weekly. So you do rosemary, you put it in your hair for like four hours Best case scenario Do not sleep with hair or a scalp masks on that. You're not supposed to, unless they tell you explicitly to sleep in it. Um, and then, like, massage your hair or whatever makes it all tingly, um, wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo and then, once your hair is dry, those scalp brushes don't use those in the shower. You're ripping your hair, don't do that.

Speaker 2:

All right.

Speaker 1:

Um, they're supposed to be when your hair is dry anyway, right, I tell you they use it to wash it when you're washing your hair to use it, but don't, because when your hair is wet it's the most like, it's easy to compromise, it's fragile the weakest, yeah, um. So when you're doing this on wet hair with a fucking brush, you're you're just breaking your hair. Don't do that, um, use it when your hair is dry.

Speaker 2:

And then I did that like before you got in the shower. That was three times a week. I forget to do it all the time I need to start doing that again.

Speaker 1:

The scalp massages yeah, um, and that made a huge difference. Like rosemary oil really does work.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I have to get better with hair care. Um, I've stopped like coloring my hair and I have a little like patch of gray right here that I do have to figure out something because I don't want. I'm not at the point where I'm like ready to let my house self get great.

Speaker 1:

They have those like. They're like, um, like eyeshadow for your hair.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, well, I think well, and if you don't wash your hair?

Speaker 1:

every day, then you know you just do that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Cover them a little bit and then I'm not ready to like. I don't. I really like my natural red and I'd like to get back there and like the front is very coppery but the back is very ashy. So I sometimes just use those like like temporary color deposits, like they can get them at Sally's. They're not like they're not like not like a conditioner, no, it is like a glaze almost but, it's like super temper. I don't even know the name. I used to do them all the time.

Speaker 1:

Um, and I like them, I think they cover the grays enough.

Speaker 2:

I don't know, I just don't want to die anymore.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's like to tint it. I don't want to die. I use this. Um. It's like it says it's a shampoo and conditioner and like you just have to wet your hair and do this, and I was like, no the fuck, we're not All right. So I washed my hair first and then put it in and it deposited a good amount of color and like the more you use it, obviously, the more color deposits, um, but it made my hair feel pretty like decent and it lasted until this last um hair appointment that I went to. I did it like, oh, maybe a month ago.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, just if you're listening to this.

Speaker 1:

I actually did color some of the blonde by accident, on purpose, um, but the shampoo and yeah after using some um, I did like maybe two or three um what's it called clarifying shampoos, and it took it out enough, but it was pretty strong I had.

Speaker 2:

So when I hair is purple, I had the depositing shampoo and conditioner to keep up with that. It my like shower would be purple, I click. I don't have the. If you have the time and energy to do that, that's awesome. I just, I just don't.

Speaker 1:

I would have a mom pack for that, because I got I got sick of that, Um, but I got one of those like dish brushes that you fill with with the soap and I keep that in my shower.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and that's what I do.

Speaker 1:

I clean in the shower while I'm like waiting for my conditioner to I would get out of the shower and immediately spray it with Clorox. Yeah, I see, I just know, and Clorox fucks me up. Yeah, if I'm cleaning the bathroom with Clorox, like I have to like run out and like, yeah, I hated using it. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So that's why I was. That's why I tied my hair back to red again, because purple was too much maintenance. But I want to get into like, so I started wearing my hair curly again. My hair is naturally curly, but the ends probably about three inches on the ends on the top layer still are a little like they're more wavy. They're more wavy, I can say they're stringy, but everything else is so curly like banana curls and I just want my curls back. So, yeah, it takes a lot for them to come back.

Speaker 1:

Like my hair is curly too, and every time I get to a point that it like the curls have come back, I'm like, well, time to straighten it again. Um yeah, and curly hair is really. It's a lot of work.

Speaker 2:

It's so much wearing my hair curly is so much more work than wearing my hair blown out, especially like I used to not know how to take care of my curls.

Speaker 1:

So I'd wash it, comb it after the shower, put stuff in it, scrunch it and just be like well, here it is. But then, like when I figured out how to make them look more like done. It's a lot of work, yeah. So I use the curly girl method, essentially Like.

Speaker 2:

I leave a little bit of conditioner in, I spray a leave in and also. But I don't like and I keep my hair super saturated when I get out of the shower, Like I don't really care.

Speaker 2:

I don't comb it, I tip it upside down immediately. I use a cotton t-shirt. I don't use a towel, cause towels break your hair. So use a cotton t-shirt for my hair. I like scrunch it a little and then I put the product right in and I like I start using the diffuser and the blow dryer while I'm still in the towel because I need my hair to be like as wet as it possibly can be. So, yeah, and I blow dry it with the diffuser and then, like I'll touch up some curls with like a wand but I usually don't have to do too much Just like that top layer.

Speaker 1:

but it takes easily 45 minutes to an hour to do my hair curl and then you have to think about how you're going to sleep in it. I bought satin caps but again, I don't like things touching me Like. I'm a type of diabetic and I literally don't use a continuous glucose monitor because I don't like fucking things touching me. Yeah, it's like I can't. So I tried to do the cap thing. I've done this and cheat, I mean this and pillowcase, yeah, I have pillowcase sad pillowcases. I think that actually helps. It does.

Speaker 2:

I don't love the way it feels on my face, but you gotta get over it, I know, but it's less breakage on your hair.

Speaker 1:

Because I can't do the cap, so I'd rather have the pillowcase than have to sleep in the cap. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I haven't tried the cap. I was thinking about it. But if you're saying you have a problem other than I, probably I also I bought a cheap one.

Speaker 1:

someone recommended one that's More of like a bonnet style, like it's not so like tight yeah you know, and maybe that would be better. But I also feel silly walking around because geo makes fun of me. When you wear your cap, your bonnet, and the kids just don't ever stop talking shit. What's that on your face? Why your eyes like that? I'm gonna shut the fuck up. Why are you awake? Why are you awake right now? Go to bed.

Speaker 2:

The kids think that the eye masks that I wear are fun. They like can we touch them cuz they're like gummy kind of yeah.

Speaker 1:

I know, can I have one? You just hold me like weird. No, I Think that was a whole bunch of information, yeah, about so hair care.

Speaker 2:

So I don't use masks. I use. I use a good shampoo and conditioner and I use Curly cream occasionally, but I haven't even found out that I like yet. I feel like I'm on like a new hair journey to like start wearing it curly again, but one of the it's not a.

Speaker 1:

It's like a hair cream but it's like feather something. I forget what the product is like, what the brand is, but I really like it cuz it's like. It's like a gel that it it gives you like the hold and not. Not the flyways, but it's not crunchy like when it when it dries, it doesn't? You don't have a cast to break, which I like. That, yeah, sometimes the cast, I feel like it, just I don't like the cast.

Speaker 2:

I don't like it.

Speaker 1:

It doesn't break the right way, like up top sometimes, I don't know. Yeah, so I really like it. I don't know. Link that to do you?

Speaker 2:

are you an Olaplex fan? I know some people. I love all the plaques.

Speaker 1:

I love all the plaques. Yes, my favorite Hair products, other than that one I just said that I'm using now for shampoo is Olaplex, the whole line. Just give it all to me, and Is it we? Oh you, ai like that hairline. I love it. I love their scalp serum.

Speaker 1:

They have heard of it it's, it has. It's really fragrant, which I kind of like to. I like my hair stuff to smell good, cuz I don't like retain sense, like yeah, I kind of just smell like nothing. And so when I find stuff that like I retain that scent, I'm like, oh yes, give it to me, and it also it's really like light and it doesn't feel heavy, but then my hair still feels like moisturized and Nice yeah, so your hair is actually fairly do you find you have Dry hair a lot?

Speaker 1:

my hair is dry. Not anymore. I feel like it used to always be, but now it's Pretty normal, like even if I took a shower and like used a regular shampoo and didn't condition it.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 1:

I would still be able to get a brush through it, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Mine's dry on the end, but I also oil.

Speaker 1:

Do you oil your tips? No that makes a difference. Do you oil the tip that hair oils like?

Speaker 2:

Important. Yeah, no, I don't use hair oil. Yeah, that made a big difference. That's probably a big part of it too hair care, yeah, plan, it's so many things.

Speaker 1:

And sometimes I'm just like and that's the comment I take like a full body shower.

Speaker 2:

I'm like it's exhausting, like. So we talk about like we want to age gracefully, like we don't want to do too much, we don't want to like, but we also I don't know. I feel like just being a woman and aging is like there's so much to keep up with.

Speaker 1:

Well, look at how much fucking shit Sarah Jessica Parker's getting and it's like for letting herself age regularly even.

Speaker 2:

Wait, who have I seen recently that I actually love? Pamela Anderson? Oh, yes, I love her. Yes, I love her without hair.

Speaker 1:

We don't love her without hair, and, but we see that and and Like, oh, she's let herself go and it's like it should what does?

Speaker 2:

your mom look like without makeup bitch, they're like they're, they're in like their sixties. Yeah, I think. Why are we? I think you look great.

Speaker 1:

And my thing is like if you don't Want to get Botox, if you don't want to do whatever, fuck it. Whatever makes you happy, it's all good, it's all okay. It's okay to give a fuck about what you look like when you're older. It's okay to not give a fuck, it's okay, right. But just whatever. Just shut up about everyone else. Shut up about how, why you're getting Botox, why you just look at, oh she looks plastic little. Shut the fuck up. And also shut the fuck up that people Don't look plastic like what?

Speaker 2:

yeah, no, I really let everyone do what they want to do. But if you want to maintain, like if you want to keep up with the younger girlies, man, it is a lot of work I will say yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's a lot. I don't want to keep up with them. I'm like no, I don't want to say like I don't want to go back to that.

Speaker 2:

No, no, no, no.

Speaker 1:

I feel pretty fucking good with my like mom pouch in my leg. Yeah, I feel more secure now with like when I'm at than I ever, ever did before same that comes.

Speaker 2:

I think that comes with age and maturity, becoming a mother, having a partner who values you yeah, cuz I definitely. I don't think I ever struggled with confidence too badly but it's Definitely gone better and I would never want to go back to like, yeah me either high school.

Speaker 1:

We just like keep talking about fuck high school, fuck high school man. I.

Speaker 2:

I, I hate it high school, but what I would give for my girls back from, yeah, I still think anybody's school, the hair products, the products we have right now to maintain, just like your natural whatever like right, and that's how I care hair care.

Speaker 1:

We're living in a time where, like yo, there's a product for that. You know yeah and I think that's it's fun to experiment and find your thing. So like we'll link in the notes the things we're talking about. But experiment, find your own, go through what works for you, find what works for you. What are you trying to do? What Ingredients?

Speaker 2:
